education in Haiti

Haiti has developed a good education system but much of the basic life skills are missing. Papa Doc in response to complaint about cattle running free and getting into family gardens and destroying crops passed a law the all cattle, goats, and horses had to be tied up on a rope. The people hadn't been taught to raise hay to feed to the animals so most of them died. The animals that are left are so poorly feed that they can't produce enough milk to feed the people. There is very little infrastructure so even though they are educated there are no jobs for them. One of they greatest improvements in missions has been the developing of small businesses. When we meet their needs they are receptive to what we have to say. I also believe that the bible tells us to be a voice for the oppressed, which means we must interact with governments on behalf of the people.
